The Bull of Wisdom

I wandered far
I wandered wide
In search of something in which to confide
My blood My Sweat
Every saline tear
All I encountered were rocky shores
Preachers Cheaters and Wily Whores
Then one day a call was heard
The Bull of Wisdom thus appeared
Rearing his horns in that direction
That led me to your potent heart
Then my journey truly did start
Kicking and screaming I refused to budge
Prodded again by your gentle nudge
Coddled in your warm embrace
Entranced by your steady gaze
Of love and lust and the wisdom of yore
My quirks and tantrums you gently bore
In your deep brown eyes my soul I saw
And there I rested for evermore!

One Hundred Years of Solitude - a review

One Hundred Years of SolitudeOne Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Surreal - is one word to describe this 'experience'. And that's what it is -- an 'experience'. It's almost like astral travel. The moment you pick up the book you're transported into this vibrant world, and you buy into it, with all the 'make believe' on account of the 'realistic' backdrop of dreary civil war in erstwhile Columbia. It's romantic, and how? Not in the cheesy idea of romanticism portrayed by plastic new age media, but in a rustic authentic and intensely sensual sort of way! Complex it is, with it's many hues of drama and innuendos. Layered it is, with an intricate portrayal of the illogical nuances of human existence. Not for the regular Joe (forgive me)! The empathy it induced in me toward all the characters was uncanny. Love is intertwined in all it's forms throughout every breath of the book. There is of course an air of mysticism and an occultish outlook. This was by far the most intense book i have ever 'been in', and if Gabriel Garcia Marquez was of marriageable age, or even close to it, i'd hunt him down in an instant. Everything about his work resonated with my innermost being.

I, Traveler!

I am a traveler
Yet I seek to go nowhere
I traverse the length and breadth of my own psyche
Exploring the nooks and kinks of the universe within
No place sparks my interest
As much as the ebb and flow of the multiverse within
I am a traveler

on love

Love has no judgement It is neither perfect nor imperfect It knows no boundaries and spans beyond time Love is pure love is truth love can be brash and love can be tame Love can express itself in anyway The expression itself is not love Love goes beyond every limitation, all burns of jealousy, every trace of grandeur Love abides in subtle moments beyond words thoughts beyond silence Love neither binds nor separates Love just is and within love are the bazillion dances ebbing and flowing now this way then that – ornaments giving love a voice a song a form Yet love gives a damn to all this for love is love Love needs nothing at all It is a stand alone teaser It is the inconspicuous janitor in the movie theatre No … it is awesomeness in the guise of an inconspicuous janitor in the movie theatre Love is the aloof spectator that needs no one but keeps the whole chase afloat Love is the sneaky tramp that makes everyone begging for more – more money more fame and more knick-knacks of this pointless game Love is all conquering murderous excrutiating insane and can drive humanoids to the edge of reason yet love remains untouched unaffected by it all – it just rides out into the horizon never to be seen at all!

Happy New Year

In heart and mind
Do we construe
A thousand thoughts
And Bid Adieu
To the year gone by
And welcome Anew!
A vibrant start
Recycled dreams
With regrets we part
Fresh stories we brew
Awakened in mind and spirit like fire
Raging courage we find
To soar even higher
Beyond imagination
and the Realm of the Real
Infinite possibilities abound
Life's tone - surreal!

Prisoner

A Prisoner
Enslaved by dogma
By the hand that rocks the cradle
By the man who swayed the scepter
By a norm that sets Boundary
A Prisoner
Spiraling down the thorny labyrinth
Entangled
Ropes of Ignorance
Running around in Circles
Screaming in vain
None can hear your pain
Prisoner!
Cocooned in thoughts
Fires of Anger
The serpent of Past Memory
Coils Body
Torn Apart
In the Eerie Darkness
Not a buoy ahead
Not a light in sight
A Pri-son-er!
